Spontaneous Human Combustion
I remember reading about a spate of this, then sometime later I watched or read something which tried to disprove it, I can't remember whether it was proved or disproved but it's something you never hear of any more (which is good of course!)Does anyone else remember it?

Re: Spontaneous Human Combustion
when I was a kid this really frightened me! It kept me awake for nights, I saw some human bonfires in an unexplained magazine a friend brought to school!Violet wrote:I remember reading about a spate of this, then sometime later I watched or read something which tried to disprove it, I can't remember whether it was proved or disproved but it's something you never hear of any more (which is good of course!)Does anyone else remember it?

I found some facts online, which I can link to if you want. But I think you don't hear about it anymore because its been pretty much disproved.Violet wrote:Yeah it was defibnately terrifying thinking that you could burst into flames at any given moment :scare:

Re: Spontaneous Human Combustion
I did laugh! when I was a kid Sandi Toksvig presented a kids humourous magazine program and they actually covered this. As part of this story she said to this celebrity (can't remember which) do you think you can do it then?
and the celebrity said 'hmmm give me a dark shed, packet of digestives and a soap opera'
then at the end Sandis manager phoned up and said she'd be in trouble if anyone exploded on the show and she went running to the shed just as the celebrity blew up to the sound of eastenders ending

Re: Spontaneous Human Combustion
all there was left was a pair of legs, ashes and a packet of biscuits. but as it was a kids programme the person that blew up, was sitting there after the credits, saying to Sandi 'well I didn't appear much did I?'Violet wrote:

particulary as they had a walk through of one that happened to some lord early in the century. complete with set of his bedroom, pile of ashes and two white stocking feet sticking out.Violet wrote:A little bit much for kids tv even if they did show him alive and well after, they don't make stuff like they used to

Re: Spontaneous Human Combustion
Quite sick really, the reason this happens is because seagulls cannot burp or pass wind so it would just build up and up...
Anyway - I havent seen anymore adverts for this show since we spoke about it - maybe we have missed it - have you seen any?

No I haven't either, I don't use the tv mags either, chances are we've missed it, stuff like this it takes them forever to repeat anything else it's on every other day
