Re: Aromatherapy Oils
Hi Peaceandkarma, I know many people who swear by lavender oil, personally I can't bear the smell but that's just me.

I love Lavender, got it burning in an oil burner now :)
I also love ylang ylang and rose
Where do you buy your oils? I can't seem to find a real nice place, so buy them online xoxo

Re: Aromatherapy Oils
Oh man.. Asking what my favorite oil is like asking which arm do I like most. The oil blend I seem to be using a lot this month so far is Cedarwood, Oakmoss, Vanilla, and Sandalwood. I use it for almost everything. I put it in lotion, bath gel, and air freshener.

Re: Aromatherapy Oils
It is. I seem to make blends of the month a lot. I have a blend I use mostly in November and December. It's clove, nutmeg, ginger, sweet orange, and vanilla. It makes the house smell amazing like I've been cooking even when I haven't.

Re: Aromatherapy Oils
I bought my oils from a natural health food store. They were a bit pricey, but considering I've had them for almost 5 years and just now running out, I think it was a good investment.

Re: Aromatherapy Oils
I just add as much as I want.. I did write down one of the times I made it..
clove- 2 drops
nutmeg- 2 drops
ginger- 2 drops
sweet orange- 4 drops
vanilla- 1 drop
But please play around with it and find what you like more. Sometimes I add more vanilla, ginger or nutmeg.

Re: Aromatherapy Oils
Oh my gosh. Rose is amazing. If you want the rose scent without spending a ton, get Palmarosa. It smells like rose but tons cheaper. And with vanilla, get tonka bean. Smells like vanilla, but again WAY cheaper. I found that out the hard way.

Yes, the rose is amazing ! Just like having fresh roses !
Thanks on the extra tips for less expenses, I need to go shopping ! Interesting you found these oils at a natural food store, I wouldn't have thought of there.

Re: Aromatherapy Oils
I was very lucky. But in recent years (last 2 years) the store has stopped caring all of the oils they once did. They only carry about 10 different oils. But, I go to a new age store near my house and I can get oils there.

I use to make room sprays with oils, but as of recently just used them in making flea spray for kittens. Also good for mosquito repellant too.

I use them for everything! Some oils are decent at repelling fleas. Others seem to draw the fleas in..

I am happy you found a new place to buy the oils. I was going to suggest a new age store as that is where I found my rose oil.SoulSurge wrote:I was very lucky. Re: Aromatherapy Oils
I know this is an old post, so you may never see this, but thanks for the mix suggestion. Almost looks like it could smell of Chai Tea - it's gotten big here.
My favorites are Tanacetum ( which was odd for me, since I am not big on minty) It's got a spearmint smell. In fact, I do wonder if spearmint would just be cheaper & do the same. Tanacetum is SUPER relaxing to me. It is a mild sedative & shouldn't be taken whilst driving. You can buy diffusers for your vehicles here. I have a diffuser by my bed, that is just a tiny little stand with a fan. & than I have a larger one for my whole place.
I also really like rose oil, also very relaxing, & I use it on my hair & it softens it. I found this out, by adding a few drops to my bath water once. It doesn't leave it oily. It made my skin super soft as well. I don't always use it with a carrier oil in my hair. If I do, I like to use grapeseed oil or camellia seed oil. I like my grapeseed oil just as much as Tanacetum, even by it self, I like to use it in my hair. Or to remove eye makeup.
& I also really love fennel seed, helps to relax anxiety. I have a little oil pendent I can put it in, & wear around my neck, if I have a new job where I need to hustle!
I like to use Blood Orange as a mood booster too.
I'm still learning about the uses of aromatherapy oils for other remedies.
