IMO...We are here for a reason....a reason chosen by our spirit half. We chose what life lessons we wished to learn and how we wanted those life lessons to help us grow. At the end of our life we have a time of self-reflection to learn how much we actually accomplished in the physical journey we just departed. This, in turn, helps us to prepare for our next incarnation (if we so chose to have another).

I have often puzzled over the reason for incarnation.
So many reasons. (sorry,off topic for a mo)
I suppose after each life as 1antique said,we do reflect on what we accomplished in each life.
I suppose it is like an inventory of what we gained and what we lost.
Two lists of pros and cons.
The list of the 'happenings' in each life,gained or lost,will be analysed.
The list of events we lost or were not successful in,we reincarnate again to put those events in life right.
To live those events over in other forms.
