I just wrote another thread about art as a spiritual discussion. But this one throws a more human angle on it.
I was watching a documentary called The Incredible Human Journey recently. (well worth watching in general) but this episode spoke of how the age of the first art depictions found coincide with the peak of the ice age, a time that humans would have faced hardship in their survival. It was suggested as a possibility, that it was this hardship and the natural effects of it, that led to himans expressing something artistically.... another belief is that need and hope led to the creation of symbols to enable the energies needed to survive, to strengtgen.
Artists often seem to have interesting stories of experiences that may have led them to dig deep and find an expressive outlet.
So I wonder at peoples thoughts about these suggestions. Where did art come from and why.
