Crystals and Candles

I have some large chunks of crystal you will have seen similar, they have holes drilled in so you can sit a tea light inside it, my question is doesn't it damage the crystal in anyway, i've never lit a candle in them yet, wouldn't they crack?

I think it is so cruel to do that, cut and gouge out holes in crystals :(
My friend has one and no, the crystal doesn't crack, but it fades and discolours :(

My Selenite Tea Light holder is quite deep and it lights up beautifully when a lighted tea light is placed inside. The Selenite seems to catches the light and the light appears to illuminate the Selenite. But it appears to crack and chip when a lite tea light is placed inside, Selenite is a bit of a delicate crystal so I use old used tea lights to pack the lighted tea light above sides of the tea light holder and use it that way. Hopefully it will last a life time now.
I even think that it may have a deep hole in the holder for use with battery powered lights instead of a candle flame tea light.

Hi, it's good you found a way to prevent damage to it, you can buy really tiny torches these days if you're thinking of using artificial light.
