How do you link to spirit

Please could you tell me how you 'link' to spirit?
Is the link you mentally asking your guide to link you to spirit?
I have noticed if i want to connect to my guide it is almost as if i have gone up some steps in my mind to a higher level. Do you experience this & if so what happens after that?

i'm not sure i have the best answer
but for myself, i ask, and then i listen, but with all my senses, and listen openly, sometimes the answer will come as a road sign, a song or words in my head, sometimes it will be a dream.. sometimes i do guided meditation and i ask to communicate with my guide or angel .
it seems for me you allready linking with your guide right?

Knowing I'm never apart from spirit, is my answer to your question fairway. Even when I'm sleeping, I'm in communication with spirit and spirit with me.

I sit quietly and imagine myself full of light and energy - it helps me "remember", because as CW stated, we aren't separate, although the shell of the body makes it seem so.

I have been missing the point about what raising your vibration actually is!
So when you have raised your vibration you know if spirit is communicating with you because you strongly feel that persons energy round you. You feel this because your energies have blended which is the link.
Shayn, yes i can link to my guide. It is dawning on me that i have had that link for as long as i can remember but i did not realise what it was or how i made that connection.
Skye you have given me the penny dropping moment about 'raising your vibration' & the way you answered the questions seperately has really helped.

Your question have been answered as I can see it.
Raising one's vibration to be ables to connect, can be as simple as intending to raise my vibration. I just try to see what I do, since I never pay much attention to it.
I seam to place my attention somewhere inside my head, most likely where the pineal gland is. And the energy goes up strait away.
This only takes a second or two.
I aways ask specifically whom I want to connect to and I ask to be protected from anything that is not of unconditional love.
I noticed if I connect anyone else then my divine self, it can take up to 30 sec. to get a connection. I feel the energy when it comes in.
I have to say, I never connect to anything or anyone that is below 5D directly.
If I would want information about an entity in the earth realm or the astral realm, I use my divine self, to make the connection and as a filter.
Like this I am never exposed to anything or anyone directly.
