Amethyst
The stone Amethyst has long been a prized one to be worn. The word Amethyst comes from the Greek “Amethystos” meaning “Non-intoxicating” .
When one reads the Egyptian Book of the Dead one will find reference to it there. It was common practice to place a heart shaped stone on the body of the dead.
Amethyst has many levels of meanings. It is a stone said to protect one from evil magicks, bring in understandings and hidden knowledge, and luck in having favorable out comes to situations.
Amethyst is a Quartz the colour ranges from a light purple to very deep purple. The deeper the colour the move value the stone be. It is mined in Brazil, Hungary, Bolivia and Argentina and parts of Africa. The best comes form Africa as it has a deeper colour and is harder to find.
The properties of Amethyst are it being relaxing and is a very good stone to sleep with under one’s pillow. It is said to quicken the mind and to bring forth purifying in the negative thoughts.
The stone is translucent in nature and in this it is a good protections stone. It is a grounding stone, and it’s a gateway stone to the Psychic realms.
From the standpoint of being used by healers Amethyst is best in clusters. Often a TOWER is placed at the head or feet or both. This will cleanse the body. It is said to have the power if placed on the temples or forehead to remove even a migraine headache. It is one that can be used with all the Chakras to purify the blood and immune system.
It is often worn to promote the growth in psychic abilities to open the path to higher learning’s.
Used in mediations it is said to take one to a higher vibration place.
Traditionally it goes to the Crown Chakra. it’s a good over all stone.
