Astrology.

Just a quick one about the study of the planets and the stars.   
Not really up on this subject.

What came to mind was where our horoscopes originated from.

I know our birthdays are akin to certain planets not only on the day,month and year we were born.

But on the planets too.....

So who did the first ever birthday horoscope?

I watched a programme not that long ago about it and i cant remember what it was called. The babylonians are the earliest evidence of studing the cosmos, they knew the movements the positions and the effect they had on earth. Im sure the greeks claimed it was them but as far as they know it was babylonians.

Babylonian astrology was used more for predicting events such as famine, war etc.....Horoscopic astrology is credited more to the Greeks in that they took what the Babylonians did and added their own concepts and ideas. If you follow the history the Greeks get the credit for creating Horoscopic Astrology which led to  the creation of the Natal Horoscope. So you would have to say the Greeks.

Now I'm puzzling.  Wasn't there a well known astrologer who was the first one to study the stars?

Sure, plenty. Hipparchus is the first to come to mind here. Though he was no astrologer he was an astronomer.

As to the answer to that question the earliest known chart referring to an individual is from 410 BCE in Babylon. No name is given.

Also remember that this is Hellenistic astrology which was the idea that everything rotated around the earth until Heliocentric was discovered and it was found that the Sun was the center of the universe.

So the working of the planets and what area they are in can give us events of our lives at certain times?   I am curious as to how an astrologer can do that....
So planets in a certain sign can make or break our lives.

Well its a little more complicated than that so heres a list of what each planet means. The term "planet" originally mean't wanderer.

Where's the list????  

Interesting subject but to receive a full blown account of each person's life through Astrology we need every planet which was there when we were born.....

I had one done years ago, and by golly it was so accurate...

They can be so accurate they are scary, but then they can also be so general that we pick up parts that relate to us and then think the whole horoscope does.

Of course with the 'new' planets and recent discoveries there was a big hoo haa about whether astrology had been wrong all these years. The appearance of the most recent in 2012 makes me wonder how all those affects and effects are total tosh. But somehow it seems to work, or does it?

Don't forget your rising sign.....that counts as well....
And your midheaven sign.

I'm Pisces born,with Leo rising and aries mid heaven....
