The 4 Noble truthsSpiritVoices wrote:What did you learn from Buddism, mayflow?
1. There is suffering in the world
2. There are causes for these sufferings
3. There are RELIEFS FROM THESE SUFFERINGS
4. There is a path to this relief.
We create. We create goodness and we create suffering, It is up to us to do this for ourselves. We are morally responsible for our own words and actions.
The mind itself has a sort of self governing function such as in Karma. If we do not act with the best will and intentions for all, it will bite our own butts, as well as others butts.
If we do act and speak with the best will and intentions for all, suffering will subside for all of everyone and everything.
The ego is a tool for us to use to communicate with each other, not to bind ourselves by whining about things.
One of the most difficult but most beautiful whings I found is where the Buddha claims that if you whine and complain about how others have treated you, you are living in hate, and if you simply love and wish the best for all, you are living in love. He speaks in this way very much the same as the Christ child seems to have spoken.

Re: The enthusiastic Buddhist
It's a vast area - there are many forms of buddhism. If he has a big interest in it, which one does he favour?SpiritVoices wrote:Of course, that is correct.....ameliorate wrote:It refers to mental and emotional suffering. Perhaps Mayflow could be of more direct help on this since I used to be a buddhist, i.e. in the last century.
