Have you ever compared your life now to how you were when you were younger?

Take between 18 years old and near retirement. Look back on your lives and see the differences between then and now.

    Have you changed much?

I have changed astronomically.. The person I was, is nothing compared to the individual I am.. And I'm sure in 10-15 years I will not even recognize the person I am today..

However age does not mean maturity. As I have known people that acted and were the same 14 years after I met them. Even with their life itself changing, drastically. They as an individual remained the same.

I think maturity is not necessarily attached to ageing but life's experiences (which can occur at
any time) that enable another mature leap forward.

The odd think I find about looking back on our life is, due to the slow pace of time, we don't see
how a certain age metamorphoses into another age clearly.  At least I don't.  It's like ... oh, that
was what I was like at 23, and oh..a new spin at 30...but the transition is too slow to view/appraise.
It's almost like our ID is in fairly constant flux and how it should be I guess if we are to progress.

I'm inclined to see both points of views here.

Looking back on my own life,I have changed so much, learned many bitter lessons and good lessons through my life.
I don't rush into instant decisions any more,I sit and ponder which are the best paths to go forward. Leave the bad times behind and go forward into the good times....I hope!

What were your views as a teenager? Or as a tweenie or even later? I think it is interesting to see how many people have changed. Many years ago it was really difficult to buy a Tarot deck or to buy crystals except raw minerals in a specialist shop or museum, now there are so many shops and look at those online!

It's usually the bitter lessons that help build our character. So in retrospect they actually become excellent lessons in helping us move forward.

Perhaps we gain wisdom as we age rather than maturity.

Nor are the roads paved with gold lol :)

Did you believe in spirit then? Or a God, so many people after the war turned their backs on religion due to the horrendous things that happened, and as many turned back to it too, all depended on what they experienced.

I do believe in a god but not as worshipped....I do believe something exists which rules the universe. I do believe there is something there after bodily death. Not sure about what we call 'heaven'.

Going back to my childhood years, remember I am a great deal older than most of you.

Childhood then was different to what it is to now. Parents were very strict,no staying out until 2am in the morning. My time to be back home was 9pm until I was older.
Boyfriends? (draws in breath) they were inspected from top to tail. Not so much my mother but my dad.....

Homework first after arriving home from school. No dilly-dallying around at street corners.....My dad would come looking for me if I was a minute late in arriving home...

    Like prison in those days....

Kids today have it easy. No discipline at all....
Maybe a bit of the hard ruling that we had would be good for them.

The funny thing is... Ask kids today and they will tell you how hard they have it.. I tell my nephews and nieces all the time how good they have it and they don't even realize it.

Things that upset/ worried/ bothered me at 18 don't bother me at all now, but i'd love to have even half the energy I had at 18, I despair looking at the majority of 18 year olds today, like someone above said, no discipline (I had that) and not much of a decent future if the problems of the world continue as they are, kids today, if they think they've got it tough now they are in for some almighty shocks later on.
