Can I learn Reiki at home/online?

Hi ...I'd like to learn Reiki but have no place accessible that I can go.  I know there are online courses ...are they effective?   IF I can find some place to learn in person that will require me to be away from home - how long should I plan on being away? Is it a day, or several? I believe distance learning is possible, has anyone tried, succeeded?

Yes it is very possible and sometimes much nicer. I used to offer online training and attunements but I have no new classes scheduled at the moment. 

of course the benefit of attending training in person is that you get to meet people and spend some wondeful quality time with like minded individuals.

It all really depends on what you want to do afterwards? Do you have a level of training in mind? Or a modality (type) of reiki?

Thanks for your response ...I'm not sure what you mean by 'what I want to do afterwards' ...as in, do I want to socialize? Not really. BUT,  I have never had Reiki before, so an experience would be wonderful. I don't know how many types of Reiki there are - I seem to keep coming across Usui Reiki ...and I was thinking at least level 2 for now.  I have been Googling and have come across some sites teaching online, and some for free at that.  I am of little means right now so the less expense, the better of course.

I have also found hand placement charts online & I assume I will be able to find the symbols as well ...although I did read here somewhere there seems to be debate whether the symbols are all that important. I understand intent is what matters.


I just got the book "Magical Energy Healing: The Ruach Healing Method" and am anxious to get into it. No idea, yet, what the Ruach Method is in comparison to Usui Reiki.

No not socialising lol, why do you want to learn reiki, what do you want to acheive and what do you want to do after you are attuned, trained etc? Practise, become a professional, be a therapist, what? That all affects the best route to take.

oops ...lol, I mostly want to reiki friends, family & self ...perhaps in the future practice but mostly for my circle and maybe 'shares'

I think the days where you had to approach someone to train and attune you are all but gone. I was attuned to level 1 and 2 Usui reiki by a friend, but chose to try the online distance method for my level 3 attunement. I was sceptic at first, but can't deny that my body physically reacted... not quite healing crisis (they are not nice) but I experienced a 2 day energy flush and my stomach was a bit off. Should have known my solar plexus was whacked

I've purchased a couple of attunements online before and meditated on them over the distance method. Lovely enhancement to the meditation and I engage the attunements on a regular basis to shield and protect my energy from being leached. Pitfalls of empathy!
