Sanathana Dharma, which is popularly known by the name "Hinduism"in the present days, is originally not a religion by itself. It is just a way of life of people belonging to a particular region, that has been conveniently named as Hinduism because of being distinct than that of those invaders who followed and practiced other religions. Though seemingly Theistic because of its majority followers and practitioners, the so called Hinduism never interfered or disturbed people of other faiths and beliefs and even accepts materialism and atheism as a part of it. The fundamental spirit is non violence, non hatred, truth and humility. It is indeed a very spiritual religion as those who contributed for its scriptures were the wise, noble and great seers, saints and sages of ancient times. The insights of the religion makes the true seeker contemplative and makes them realize their own Divinity or Godhead. The rich heritage of the religion is mainly attributed to the "Guru Parampara" or the tradition of maintaining the lineage of spiritual masters through learning the holy scriptures, generation after generations, following the most sacred Guru-Sishya relationship(Spiritual master and Student disciple relationship). The one main point that stands distinct is considering Proselytization as a sin. There may be many great disputes and arguments or even heated debates within the community for the sake of establishing Truth, but never will there be a forceful imposition or treachery to convert people of other faiths and beliefs. The merit of religion can be ascertained by its tolerance and its peaceful coexistence with the other different religions.
Sanathana Dharma is the support of its followers and not vice versa. Sanathana Dharma doesn't need its proponents or supporters to prove its superiority or for proving its worth by unjust methods. If at all there is any religion, then that religion should stand for noble virtues and good principles of life. If not, it will be called a religion in the sense of what it is presently being known for in the world.

I'm a Spiritualist and although Modern Spiritualism has formal recognition as a religion in the UK and elsewhere, it's not a conventional, mainstream religion and has no formalised hierarchy or structure.  It probably has some similarities with the movement you follow.
