Post  Violet Wed Jan 06, 2010 12:32 am

It began before xmas and still has a grip on us and is believed by some to be set to last all of January.

I'm just happy we finally got some decent snow, we got six inches today and it is snowing again now, thing is it causes so many problems and people get hurt.

What are your experiences of the weather like, what problems have you had and do you know of anyone who could use some positive or healing thoughts at the moment because of it.

Almost 60 degrees F here. Going to work in a t-shirt and no coat. But, in the south-east of the country it is COLD. It hasn't been above freezing in over a week, with lows a few degrees above 0 F.

Speaking of which....Carolyn is right in the middle of it. I wonder how she is doing with it?

You know, they say that, as the Greenland ice sheets melt, the gulf stream will continue to slow, decreasing the amount of warm water reaching the United Kingdom, resulting in weather closer in line with that of Canada...or maybe worse.

The UK government needs to pull it's socks up and take a look at how those countries manage such conditions, our PM said they didn't know this was coming, I don't know why as everyone else did, it was on the weather too, they just don't like spending money it is ridiculous how such a small amount of snow (an inch) can bring the country to a standstill. It's like everything else here they don't take action until tragedy happens, they should be taking action to prevent tragedy. Where's me soapbox Prolonged Cold Snap (UK) 88636

It will become more and more difficult for countries to prevent or lessen the difficulties to come. We have been weakened by complacency, and do not have the resources to cope with what is coming. The governments know this already, but are unable to design a plan to cope with something of the magnitude of what is coming.

Google United States internment camps. This may shed some light on how the U.S. is planning on coping with the upcoming problems.......

I bet they create a special tax for it..we already pay the water board for the rain that runs off our roofs as it is their drains which take it away

Here they charge us sewage for watering our yards. They can't seem to figure out that the water soaks into our yards and not down the drains. Prolonged Cold Snap (UK) 809779

We have had about 3 inches of snow.
I was sitting with a lady yesterday.
When I arrived at 5pm it was rain and sleet.
When I left at 8pm, my car was a white mound.
    It snowed again overnight.
At the moment the sun is shining and the snow it melting.
