Re: Paganism?
i think violet this is a very big and extra big topic, that at times touches Wicca as well allthough i don't think these are similar words. i think it is hard to say few sentences about paganism. do you have a specific question? this is a topic close to my heart but i'm not an expert, i only know how little i know.

Re: Paganism?
I'm pagan but not wiccan, I will try and write something up for you. In the near future.
I do suggest this thread should be moved to the Wicca section since Wicca is a branch of Paganism. Only a suggestion!

Re: Paganism?
Thank you for that, that would be excellent
I heard that Wiccans and Pagans don't agree with each other, but it's only something I heard, I can move it over there

Re: Paganism?
I have never heard that before as Wicca believe in the same as Pagans. There are many branches off Paganism.. Like a family tree! But saying that I some may disagree with some principals. I have never come across it before. Same as all faiths there are some that may be a Christian but may not agree with all ifywkim.

Re: Paganism?
Hi Violet,
Instead of you googling your question have a look at this site its
called Pagan Awareness Network. You will be able to read about "What is Paganism?" and "What do Pagans believe in?"
Site: http://www.paganawareness.net.au/PAN//content/view/130/134/#2
I hope this helps

Thanks Little Wolf I must admit I was surprised when I heard it as I thought in some ways they were similar.

Re: Paganism?
Like was previously mentioned Paganism is to broad a topic to be skimmed down into a quick paragraph or two. As it encompasses so much.

Gee's I was only trying to help!! I did read what Shayn posted... I will continue just to read the forum now. I would hate to step on anyones toes. BB )o(
That's out of the way..
I do agree with Shayn. There is alot of umbrella's for Paganism. If someone is seriously interested in Paganism. Its best to direct them to a Pagan organisation rather then just googling a million sites. waisting my time writing my knowledge up for you. As I can see a few paragraph wouldn't be satisfactory. When increasing your knowledge it is better to read then ask questions that you maybe interested in as it may not be what Voilet is questioning or even thinking about.

Re: Paganism?
From what I have been reading, Paganism includes any and all religions...except Judiasm, Muslim, and Christianity...all of which have their roots in Paganism.
Even the Catholic church acknowledges that most, if not all, religions have a common root which predates Judiasm, Muslim, and Christianity, but attempts to downplay this fact.
Religion is nothing except a person or group of people attempting to understand that which cannot be explained...at least that is how it began. Man did not understand all the things around him, such as the changing of the seasons, the rise and fall of the sun and moon, etc, so they became a point of awe, which, in turn, became a point of worship or celebration.
From this celebration came all religions....
Am I close, Little Wolf?

Re: Paganism?
i think i lost you :( here..little wolf, can you please explain me how can you be a wicca but not pagen or where and how you see the difference between these two? it is not to aggravate you that i'm asking, as for me my look over thing is a very very academic one, and when it comes down to it, it is all a mater of definitions mainly by the eyes of the beholder but not if you take an overlook of things. so it will be more then interesting for me to hear what you have say, where and how you put the difference between the 2. just what it means for you. and i would be very happy if you take the time and write it down.thank you very much LWshayn

Hi Shayn.Little Wolf wrote:I'm pagan but not wiccan,
I said I was Pagan, Not wicca. You can be pagan and not be wiccan. You are correct you can't be wiccan and not pagan.
I don't think I need to write what a Pagan believes in as you would already know.

Re: Paganism?
Hi Shayn,
That's okay!
What you've said I've notice alot of people not feeling their selves recently. I've been very flat for the past couple of months. Though only in the recent weeks I am improving.
I hope you feeling better soon whatever the reason. Remember to stay positive and remember to focus on the positive things in your life no matter how small they are.

Re: Paganism?
Hi All,
Greetings Little Wolf, first time seeing you on site, Ive been busy with Hallows Eve and then Halloween for the kids. Hi all. Wicca originates from Paganism to a main degree. Paganism itself has been traced in a manner back to the etchings recovered in caveman times. Im sure Little Wolf being Pagan will know more about this than myself.
Hi Violet, I have not heard of any differences between Wicca and Paganism, in fact I have actually taken part in a part Wicca part Pagan Ritual a few years ago. It blended in very nicely as well.

PAGANISM
I know this much, in the Uk on Halloween, they come from all over the country to a place called Whitby, just 8 miles from the church pictures i posted, they have a huge ceromony at Whitby Abbey, now ruins, they go there to celebrate Halloween, Whitby was the place were Count Dracula was supposed to have been shipwrecked on.

Re: Paganism?
Hi Violet,
Just catching up on this thread, going back a bit to where you had heard Wiccans and Pagans dont get on, Ive never heard that before. As Little Wolf stated Wicca and Pagan beliefs are similar in some aspects. In fact a few years back I worked with a Pagan and we had a Pagnistic\Wiccan ritual that we kind of worked up between our beliefs and it came out very well.
