I've had encounters with Wiccans at a few outdoor festivals and on the internet and now wondering why so many Wiccan women dye their hair red. Is this a uniformed look for Wiccans or does it denote rank ?

Once I was told by a Wiccan that the high born Celts had red hair. She did not care for my rebuttle that the Celts were more of a culture rather than a race. I know it's common to think of so many Irish and Scots as red heads but in all actuality the Gaels themselves were once a dark haired people and the red and blonde haired Irish and Scots of today are the result of Gaels mixing with Norse people who invaded those lands long ago.

The Gaels, once known as the Milesians, were a people who originated on the plains of Scythia far to the east of Alba and Erin.

Lots of women dye their hair red it is a really popular colour as it suits so many skin types, I don't know if there is any further meaning behind it with Wiccans it will be interesting to find out though.
