Yule is about the returning light of the sun on the longest day of the year. the day when the Holly King (King of Winter) and the Oak King (Sun King) do battle, and the Oak King kills the Holly King so the Oak King takes his reign and the Holly King returns to Summerland to slumber. They battle again at midsummer. The old crone rejuvenates with the rebirth of the Oak King and becomes the maiden again. The wheel of the year keeps turning and we mark it on this magical day.
