A young girl feeds wild crows - and they bring her 'gifts' as a "thank you" in return.

    Charming!

Birds can be very intelligent, but not all of them are, it's amazing what some can learn :)

Birds are very intelligent I saw one luring my cat up to the thinner branches at the top of the tree, later I saw larger birds 'evicting' smaller ones to steal their nesting space, threw their bedding out the lot

All of the Corvus / Raven and Crow family of birds are extremely intelligent, and gifts from them to people they choose to allow to share there lives is something that's pretty normal if your lucky enough to be one of those people.

I share my life with a Jackdaw one  of the smallest members of the Raven family.  He came to me of his own choice outside with a damaged wing, his family had been looking after him and he's a young adult, but he was grounded and unable to fly that day he chose to jump up onto my arm when I knelt down near him and he's been living with me ever since.

His family also knew he'd decided to stay with me because the next morning all his family were lined up on my  bedroom window ledge chatting to Mystic as he is now named. They visit twice a day every day and if the window's open they will hop inside the window to visit with Mystic.

They also bring us gifts, the first ones were a bug and a shell for Mystic and a feather and a strawberry for me. Now I have a mountain farm and no direct neighbors and my strawberries didn't grow this year so I'm not to sure where they got the strawberry, it was perfectly fine and very tasty after I'd washed it lol.

There gifts keep coming and I get an escort around the farm every time I set foot outside, They love it when Mystic comes out with me and sit around him up in the trees and on the fences. Mystic will never fly again but he does get to see his family and they know he's safe. I have the relevant licenses to keep him and he's recovered from his wounds and surgery very well.

His family have also extended there care to my chickens and have woken me several times and let me know when the pine martens are about and checking out my chicken pens at night. They have woken me several times in the dark by hammering with their beaks on my window. So that I could get out and stop the pine martens, I even was able to save some of my birds mid attack. I breed rare breed birds and sell the eggs. They are free range and organic so happy birds. And the Jackdaws have taken to looking out for them as well.

I will never own Mystic, in fact I dont own any of the animals here they all own me, but the connection that I share with Mystic is unique and a rare gift, one that I am humbled every day to be lucky enough to have.

I would love it if our crows did this!  I love them.  They really are very intelligent birds, and I love hearing them communicate with each other.

Today one of the crows was in our neighbors pasture, in one of his trees.  (Our own beautiful 60 foot tree had to be chopped down a couple weeks ago).  This crow today was squawking... and squawking... and squawking, so I set out more peanuts for him.

Of course, he saw and he brought his friends with him.  They always do that.  Funnily enough, oftentimes a squirrel will be with them too.

One time we had a crow harassing the squirrel for the peanuts, and another time it was the squirrel. harassing the crow  It was hilarious to watch. It was like seeing that scene in Bridget Jones Diary where the guys have a fight... but aren't really good at it.  :giggles:
