Spirits and Rememberance Day Empty Spirits and Rememberance Day

    Remembrance Day Experiences with Spirit.

I thought I would share Two stories from Spirit from this year and the year past.

Last year I was to open Sunday Church service with Remembrance Day ( some know it as Veterans Day or Memorial Day ) . I was LOST on where to take it. I was lost on what to share how to even go about honoring such a day. Our Reverend whom works for Veterans Affairs was not able to do it that year. I know the importance of paying respects to that day. I that year had a very special WWII Veteran in the audience. Sadly he never made it to that service, I said goodbye to him in the hospital. He was there with me that day in Spirit I felt him beside.

I new out of respect for him and the other members that I had to put me best FORWARD.

It was already Saturday Night and I had been through many books about the War’s and read many a story told. I had read many a letter written in the throws of war. I was lost on what FIT what felt like “ME” what rang to me. I thought on even calling to say I was not feeling well to get out of service. (THAT felt very wrong as that is not me). I had picked out stationary to use, it was blank nothing yet written upon it.

I had a Spirit “NCO Allison” come to me. He addressed me with his name and said that what I needed was in the very stationary I had picked. I said I do not get it but he was gone. I looked again at that very stationary and I say “RED flowers” only. I was like I do not get this. Then like that Light Bulb that goes on in one’s head I say “Poppies” the Red Flowers were Poppies.

In that moment I instantly went to me computer and I typed in Poppies Remembrance Day and came to find “In Flanders Fields” the poem that we so know from many a service we have attended and maybe many a school assembly. BUT I found much more on the site I was lead to I found the meaning to how the poem came to be. The history on the meaning and how it came to be published. Something like me I found few knew.

I presented it that Sunday. I read the Poem and the history and I felt NCO Allinson with me too I felt me friend with me. When I came to read the name “LT. Helmer” I stumbled and started to say “Helmut” for him to say Helmer in on your right I am Helmut and I am on your left. I smiled and continued on. When I was done with me part of service several asked me WHOM the Soldiers were I had clearly standing beside me. I felt them there very special day.

The other story goes to this year. As I did such a good job of Remembrance Day last year I was asked to do it again this year to open Sunday. This time I had the part I would share but I needed something new something more. I this time did not have to even LOOK I was GIVEN what I needed. I did not know it at the time whom gave it to me but….I knew it was a Spirit whom aided me.

I was in the library ( the one for Church is in me basement). I was making a copy of “In Flanders Fields” and a book came off the shelf and landed on the floor. It was in a row of books and there is no way it just fell. I went over to pick it up and was stunned at what I found it was about. I had put it in the “Angels” section (not one I am overly read in) and it was a book of TRUE accounts from Soldiers in many of the War’s that had encounters with Angels in battle times. It opened to a page a poem and a short BIO. Odd that it was said that it did not have an account of an Angel in the poem but the Author was moved to include it in the book.

I found that fitting to “ Me” as I am not overly and Angel person. Saturday I made a copy of it and I thought I would practice reading it as I had only glanced at it. I read the poem and that was fine, I then read the Bio on the Soldier Private Harrah, he came in Spirit and sat in the chair next to me. I was in a FLOOD of tears that lasted for an hour. I tried to read the paper but I so felt him there with me.

I got to Service today and I went to our Reverend and I asked how she was feeling (she has not been to well) she smiled and said wonderful. So I thought OK I can ask if she can read this for me. I could not I was almost in tears thinking on it as I felt him there with me. She read it for me, and as I listened I felt him standing beside me. She is a Medium as well and when she finished reading it and I approached she said she too FELT Private Harrah there. Some say someone with us. Was very special.

I got home and as I had been up most of the night with me Son whom has a bad cold I was tired on tired. I was closing me eyes to rest them and Private Harrah came to me to say ......

“ I feel so blessed and honored to have something I wrote just before I died read. To be a mere Private and be given such a status. Thank you so very much."

With that he was gone. I have to feel it might well have been one from that book that gave it to me. Private Harrah was reported Missing in Action July 19th 1918. He was 20 year’s old.

We always have Spirit around us…..often maybe we fail to “SEE” the messages is all.

    What a lovely subject,Lynn.
I attended an Anzac Day service out in Melbourne,Australia, for the Korean Vets Assoc and the atmosphere was memorable.
It was held in one of the branches of the RSL which is likened to our Royal British Legion here.
The silence at the end of the service was so serene until the The Last Post was played.
That's I felt the tears coming.

Also,at my husband's funeral,it was an honour to be allowed to cover his coffin in the Australian flag and display his old army slouch hat along with his medals.
I was so proud of him.
