What about Animals?

So as we all know; man is quite severely outnumbered by animals. At only 14% of discovery, we have 8.7 million discovered species, that leaves 86% of species left to discover...so, what happens to them? 

I'm trying to open my mind more to the aspect of there being a spirit dimension and that there is more than just this life...but with so many different species, isn't it kind of selfish to believe humans the only one's deserving of such a thing? 


Another reason I ask is because my dog is having a huge lump removed today...I take him in less than an hour and while I'm terrified of today's happenings, I'm also petrified of the results =C I can't bare the thought of losing him...he's only 6, he's my doggy soul mate and I can't help but worry, he's like my child...


So does everything (like the Buddhist teachings suggest) have a form of spirit/energy that goes somewhere upon physical death? Or is it only those with evidence of consciousness that have it? (i.e. it knows it's alive) 

Also, I'd be super grateful if you could say a small prayer / send positive vibes for my little guy...he was quite poorly after his last anaesthetic, while it never got to dangerous levels...I just want today to go well ; x ;

Not sure I agree with this, I have found that some animals know they are aive, others aren't that aware or conscious of it, and only a few are really self-aware.

This site added extra characters by default to end of my link. I re-edited it and moved the link to over the photo. It seems to work now. Animals are very much aware they are alive. Higher brain function, as in humans means we can contemplate it. In animals they are just purely aware. Maybe even more so than we are. Consciousness is in all life. In animals, it is pure consciousness, more pure than ours. Why? it because we think in words. Words tend to drown out awareness. I do not relate higher brain function or advanced thinking to pure consciousness.

Everything on this Earth is spirit,mineral,plant,animal and human,only humans in my opinion have been bestowed with intellect,animals of course instinct,plants and minerals are in my belief alive but controlled by a superior intelligence,like a monad,but for plants and minerals!
