Only when I've had too much whisky ....I feel like I'm separate to my body. ..but that is with awareness.

During any sudden, life-threatening moment, or one in which you just truly think your going to die, the soul leaves the body as an act of self defense so the brain does not record pain during the experience. You can be out of your body hovering for a second or to before you realize that your OBE. BTDT.....more than once.... Answer is Yes.

Hi Carolyn, i've wondered about that but never experienced it, but I have seen my life flash before my eyes, I really thought I was going to die, I was only a kid when it happened, it's nice to think we are spared really horrific pain in that way.

That's probably what people mean about being beside themselves with pain/fear.

Re: Can you be out of body...
Hello
Yes its that state of "Day Dream" I feel where one does wonder out without being aware. Expecially for children. I know that so many report cards said Lynn seems to be in a constant state of Day Dream but when called upon she knows where we are with the lesson and what has been said.
It has been noted by the teacher's me kids have that they all do it. Me eldest said its a very good thing for classes like French. He said at first he did not realize he was leaving til one day he looked down at his desk and he was still sitting in it.
Too his marks in French are good and his report card was good....he just does not like it.
Lynn

I really like that idea, Czar...and as Violet said..'Beside yourself with fear' probably comes from that idea.

'Beside yourself with fear'.
Well, never thought before of that expression.
It makes wonderful sense.
