Suppose someone proved there was no afterlife how would this affect you, I don't mean regarding your beliefs as such, but would it make you more fearful of death?

Re: What if there was no afterlife?
Hello
There 'IS' an afterlife--that much has been proven for me!
What 'form' does the afterlife take should be the question!
We do not die--only our physical form ceases to exist--our spiritual form continues--THAT IS FACT--for me if not for you!
PPLL n L dear people

you are welcome joanie. it actually made me think, after reading the quote to mean there is agreat cost to the tuition, i examined your contributio and thought, why yes, that is also valid.
hi peter dear.
that's exactly right. what is the form is a very interesting and i think helpful pursuit of this argument.

Absolutely right, Peter - that is why the original question is irrelevant - a point I've made all along!

Hi Peter and Zerdini, it is obvious you two have had proof for yourselves, (as I have) and also your own proof that our spirit continues on after physical death, many haven't had that proof yet, some may never get it in the physical, others may not want to believe it if they do get it.

Oh yes there is an afterlife, but there is also a way to miss it. Thats what scares me. If it was not for my "dreams" I would have missed it.

Re: What if there was no afterlife?
Hello Tony
The afterlife is there for ALL of us, but we do have to atone for our behaviour on this earth plane.
There is NO 'Hell' there is NO 'Heaven', but we must answer to our own higher self. We learn 'lessons' here on the earth plane that enable us to develop further in the spirit realm. that enables us to grow closer to God! But my use of God is not the same as yours--I prefer the term 'DIVINE SPIRIT'. It does not depict the supreme being as male or female human or non-human - Divine Spirit is the supreme power/being/force in our universe. And yes Jesus knew it well as have many others that have trod this earth plane.

Hello there. Thank you for posting this. I found this very interesting. Even though you weren't speaking to me, you have just told me a lot that I didn't know or believe. Thanks so much!PPrncpl7 wrote:Hello Tony

No I am sorry I dont think so.. Jesus is that key for all of us, and the only one that can allow us to cross that plane into heaven. If we miss him, we will stay here.PPrncpl7 wrote:Hello Tony

Re: What if there was no afterlife?
I'm sorry but I have to disagree with that. I believe that Jesus was a real person, indeed. Though, not the son of God. Thinking of it, doesn't the bible say that we are all God's children?AngelTony wrote:No I am sorry I dont think so.. What happens if we don't learn our lesson though?

I only ask because I've had a fair amount of poop in my life up to now, good times too of course, but I'm not sure if they've been "lessons" or just pure bad luck.

Re: What if there was no afterlife?
My best friend is a Wiccan and she taught me that, in her religion, if you don't learn a lesson you will be reincarnated and have to keep living until you learn that lesson. Then, you will go onto a new lesson until you get to a place of higher being and such. I'm not sure if you believe that but I kind of do.Rainbow wrote:What happens if we don't learn our lesson though?

I've heard that before. What sort of "lessons" do we have to learn though, does anybody know?

Re: What if there was no afterlife?
We are taught lessons on many things. Anything really. Some examples can be how to love someone, how to get through a hard position; such as being poor, being generous to other people, learning how to learn things, trusting people, ect. A lesson is something that will be difficult. That's why we have a lifetime(s) to fufill itRainbow wrote:I've heard that before. What sort of "lessons" do we have to learn though, does anybody know?

Re: What if there was no afterlife?
let me stick my two cents in ;
yes we're all god's children or divine spirit or whatever.
jesus, great though he is, and i have felt him, is the christ anointed. we all must find and light the christ within. this has nothing to do with names and labels. you don't even have to believe in god/ allah/ jesus/ jehova etc. it is about the truth in your heart. if not all who died before he came, no matter how good, were lost?
meister eckhart? said if only i could forget you (god) so that i can love you still more - or words to that affect.
as to the lesson thing, as panda says, there are many, but the greatest of them is love. how many of us love unconditionally, do unconditionally, feel unconditionally? i don't, but i try.
soup in a cup or a bowl or ladle or pot is still soup. may god bless you all, and may you know it.

Re: What if there was no afterlife?
I barley believe anyone can possibly feel love unconditionally with anything short of a child in the real world. It is hard to feel this way with a spouse!! On this site with digital friendships...unconditional love!! Are you serious!! Do you really think anyone on Face book, or any of these spiritual websites around the world can possibly feel unconditional love. I think it is a rose is a rose by any other name, but it is still a rose, with thorns.sparkly wrote:let me stick my two cents in ;

Only becuase I came to Christ can I hope for any possibly in this area, especially now that I am here. There is no other way to really feel that way unless you look at your daughter or son's face.

Re: What if there was no afterlife?
hello Tony--Sparkly and the rest of you
We can all 'LOVE' unconditionally! Love thy neighbour--Love thy enemy--love all!!
We must all learn what love is--learn to accept what we 'NEED' and not what we 'WANT'!
It has been said that 'money' is the root of all evil--it is the wanting of 'money' and 'power' that is the root of all evil.
We are all capable of 'unconditional' love--we just need to work at it!!
Peter

Re: What if there was no afterlife?
Hi Tony, I believe the majority of us are capabable of loving unconditionally, and why would it be difficult with a spouse, there shouldn't be any conditions in a relationship imo and this is probably why so many relationships fail because people cannot/will not accept that other people have flaws.I barley believe anyone can possibly feel love unconditionally with anything short of a child in the real world. It is hard to feel this way with a spouse!! On this site with digital friendships...unconditional love!! Are you serious!! As for the online stuff of course you can have unconditional love it is still people operating these machines after all.

Re: What if there was no afterlife?
I must say I agree with Rainbow as regards my sons and my animals but that's as far as it goes, I'm afraid. Sadly, friends are not included in this select little group. There have been too many times when friends have surprised or even shocked me with something they've said or done. These have chipped away at the friendship and in some cases have destroyed it in one blow.
