Why are we worrying about what will happen in 2012 when there is so much going on in the world now? Natural catastrophes, the Arab countries rising up against dictatorship... we need to focus our attention on what's happening in the present. Surely what evolves in 2012 is in our own hands today? Our actions now will define our future.
We could take the 'predictions' as a warning to take heed and be aware that the choice is ours, that if we do nothing to improve the state of world affairs then we could indeed be headed toward annihilation (think nuclear war, for instance). It only takes one madman to press the red button...

What is interesting is that I have a room filled with quite a few cans of food, a room with allot of water. So when I think of all that has been said, all of the saturation on the net and all what the old prophets say, I just really feel comfortable now.

Do they think that the turmoil facing the world presently is worse than other turmoil faced in decades and centuries past? How do they work that out? How do they assess the risks? Is it balanced analysis or pessimistic emotion?

hi viking.the message is that if you live for personal gain, if you feel you have a free pass, because you have not yet reeped what you have sown, because you get what you want, because you denigrate the earth and respect none of the species that live within or on it, that you see as serving no purpose except in relation to yourself;
that these things are not unnoticed, rather that they are a case of give you enough rope....
conversely, the flipside of that message is, just because you don't write grown up letters to santa, behave like a sycophant, your value, your beauty, your endeavours, to the absolute, has not gone unnoticed either.
not everyone is going to understand these things, because they will have to repeat them in another place, at another time.
hey joanie, its good to have some supplies for comfort, but i will go out on a limb and say survival is not dependant on material resources. rather on an open heart.

i agree with your sentiment joanie. no need to concern oneself with whether we are to stay or go. it's only a matter of stage door entries/ exits. 
viking, as i said some are to learn it in another place and time, the reason is they aren't ready for the incredible openness required to really take in the whole "we are not alone thing", i mean this in more ways than one. ie that this is not the centre of the universe, nor is it iconic for development or anything earth people fancy themselves as. some people that are passing away at this time will go some place better/ worse and some will come back for the show.

You know, I see where you are coming from. I didn't know most of the things you have told me. It just doesn't seem right for some reason. To be honest with you, I never actually worried about the end of the world until a few years ago. No one really spoke of it or anything. THEN BOOOM! Movies, books, new reports. Even science is seeing that there will be a massive solar storm that will be much bigger than the one that hit us in 2001. This happens every 11 years, OK you do the math!!!
Now also keep in mind additionally to this is that our entire Galaxy, (not our solar system, I am talking our milky-way) yanoo our 125 million light year wide Galaxy is going to be in perfect alignment with guess what? Our planet!! Do ya think something’s happening now? I am not going to sell my home, but I am going to put quite allot of canned foods and water in my house within this next year!! (of course I already have been) So sorry Panda, I don’t think its just a money issue or that "extreme" over the board movie, this is in fact quite immense and I think will happen fairly soon but slow. I do not think it will happen over night, I think we still can get prepared (Out of respect, of my beliefs and yours, I did not even bring the Bible into this.) It’s already saturated!!

viking, i was born with this stuff within me, the knowledge of a new age...in recent times i have had dreams, visions etc of some events and then they have happened, like the earthquakes in new zealand and the floods in australia.....
