Re: How well do you understand...
Very well. I am now 64 and have been interested in personal growth/self development most of my
adult life. I have worked through my issues and have now attained inner peace. This is not to say
I am without flaws....I know them and they are a work in progress.

It's how it feels to me, Josh, so it is possible. It doesn't mean I'm necessarily right, because others may see things differently, but it's how it feels to me....Auras wrote:Impossible.mac wrote:all too well

But your comment got my frustrated as to understand yourself is understanding your spirit which will never be fully achieved.

By now, Josh, you should know to read only what I write. I didn't say 'fully' or 'completely' because that wouldn't be possible.Auras wrote:I do admit, Impossible was a bit far.mac wrote:It's how it feels to me, Josh, so it is possible. Re: How well do you understand...
Now you've not even quoted me correctly - I wrote "all too well" But it's NOTHING like, not even close to, "fully, completely" as you claim.Auras wrote:Yes but saying....mac wrote:By now, Josh, you should know to read only what I write. All-too-well (or only-too-well) is an idiom, reflecting something that is known from experience, something about which you wish you didn't....
If you don't understand something surely it's easier just to ask for an explanation?

Re: How well do you understand...
Mac, I doubt was being stubborn over a spelling mistake. Just wanting to be precise I think, and to point out a common spelling error often made. His basic point is that "all too well" does not necessarily imply fully or completely.
"All too well" implies to me that there is self understanding that implies one knows one's understandings are not yet complete. That is not stubborn at all. It is actually being open to new thoughts and ideas I think.

Re: How well do you understand...
OK I'll accept you made a spelling mistake but you were also effectively telling me I was wrong with my explanation when I knew exactly what I meant. I explained my position for you. The stubborness was in your not accepting what I had explained was something personal for me.Auras wrote:___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________mac wrote:Now you've not even quoted me correctly - I wrote "all too well" But it's NOTHING like, not even close to, "fully, completely" as you claim.Auras wrote:Yes but saying....mac wrote:By now, Josh, you should know to read only what I write. I don't think either Amy or Mac thinks it is necessary to speak in Mac's behalf. Mac is ego attack proof I think, and can speak for himself (not necessarily always with tact) - but he is hardly a shrinking violet (not meant to be a comment on the forum owner)!
