Mixing Decks
Has anyone ever tried mixing different decks and reading with them?

Re: Mixing Decks
i did, i did, and it took me a while to find up which combinations works best for me. now i have the combinations i love and this is really cool. magical, you name it, it gets so deep it is a whole new level of reading...very exciting.
why?
btw, not sure where i asked about that and some people told me not to mix and that it is wrong, and then i found this book titled " tarot outside the box" and it talks about mixing tarot cards from different decks and all kind of interesting things to try out with the cards...

Hi Shayn, I don't think it's wrong especially if it works for you, I tried it years ago but can't remember how I did with it, i'm thinking of trying it again

Re: Mixing Decks
hi violet.
in the book i mentioned above the author gives few ideas of how to mix decks.
what i'm doing is something like this: i choose a spread and open with one deck, and start the reading like a general imperssion and then i take the other deck, at bring out the same cards that i allready have open in the spread, not sure if it is clear, - basically takeing out the same cards and add the cards from the other deck near the cards i allready have open.. so like i have 2 cards of the fool from 2 different decks.
not sure if this is what you are looking for, i can try and look in the book for other ideas for you if you like, but you can also try and look it out in google books, and i really recommend this book it really has some cool ideas for people who are working allready with tarot and want to bring " new blood" into thier practic.

Re: Mixing Decks
Hi Shayn, i've tried mixing decks recently for a reading it seemed to work really well I don't use the same card from the two decks, they're different, it will be interesting to see over time if I ever draw the two same cards from the two different decks for the same position, i'll keep you posted.

btw, i find it very interesting the small differences in meaning between the decks,it gives so much more into the cards and situations.

Using two contrasting decks has worked very well for me, much better than I expected, I know I have a couple of readings in here to catch up on, will try to do these soon.

I will, card reading is not sitting with a bunch of cards, dealing them out.
It involves a whole lot of spirit as well.
You see and hear with the mind as well.
I'll just put me turban back on...............

Not quite sure what you mean,Mac.
Do you mean the 'why things happen in your life'' or 'how the cards work'?

How the cards work.....
Now that's a hard one.
I would say mystery,a little spirit, fate in which each card is drawn.
I sometimes do a reading for myself,if I find I have questions in my life,it is surprising what answers turn up from the throw of a card.
Each separate card can mysteriously connect with next card giving answers to the question you need answering.
There are different spreads starting with the past, present and future.
Too many to list here.
I only use Angel cards, but there are many versions of Tarot cards which really need an experienced reader to interpret.
Now my husband wouldn't use tarot cards, wouldn't even have them in the home.
He used ordinary playing cards and still gave a good reading. As I said spirit come through and give answers through the cards as well.
Think of the cards as a tool which spirit use to get the message across.
Hope that helps,Mac.
I'm half asleep just risen up from my bed.

The cards are shuffled and so many cards are dealt according to what kind of reading is requred.
It can be 3 cards upwards to more.

"Now that's a hard one. I would say mystery, a little spirit, fate in which each card is drawn." hmmmmm....That makes it sound like a fairground, end of the pier, cross my palm with silver, situation, Joanie
"Now my husband wouldn't use tarot cards, wouldn't even have them in the home.
He used ordinary playing cards and still gave a good reading." Was he an evidential medium or a psychic?
"As I said spirit come through and give answers through the cards as well." How do discarnates know answers for anyone? Surely they're simply giving their opinions, possibly based on their own experiences. Perhaps of direct relevance but how would you know?
"Think of the cards as a tool which spirit use to get the message across." I might accept them as a prop to help the intermediary to focus - like using a crystal ball - but I'd always want to know why I'd take any notice of any guidance offered. I'm not saying that advice might not prove to be good advice but how would we know before accepting it?
Is it possible that with cards or any other props that the reading is predominantly auric / psychic and it's mainly the practitioner who is using her/his own skills for counselling, possibly with support from her/his spirit helpers?

Re: Mixing Decks
Personally I think cards are a tool, I don't use specific layouts, nor do I reverse them, I read playing cards, tarot cards and oracle cards and I use all of those in the same way.
Many believe you need to let your sitter shuffle and cut the cards to 'put their energies on them' personally I don't find that necessary, as when you read cards online people are unable to physically shuffle them which, imo, immediately throws the theory of purtting their energies on the cards out of the window, so in this case we cannot be taking their 'vibes' from the cards and working with that, in the same way that psychometry is believed to work, by picking up from objects because at the end of the day that is ALL cards are, objects, pieces of cardboard.
I'm going to post this bit and continue

Re: Mixing Decks
With tarot and oracle cards in particular, I try to focus on the person (when reading online) most times, all I have is their username, they are unknown to me for the most part (obviously I know some better than others) sometimes if a username is ambiguous I don't even know what sex they are, I never ask for birthdates, real names etc, it is not needed (again imo) I focus on the username and shuffle the cards.
What is a bit inexplicable is knowing when to stop, it's almost as though something says, 'enough' but i've found that even a sitter in the physical will experience this, as sometimes when doing a live reading I will hand the cards to the sitter and simply ask them to shuffle until they feel ready to stop, so something must stop them too, otherwise there'd be lots of folks out there still shuffling
gonna post again
